confess. is an 18+ anonymous confession app where users can share thoughts, feelings, and experiences without revealing their real identity. We take your privacy seriously and design the app around data minimization and transparency.

We collect only the information necessary to operate the app.
Your email address is collected during signup for authentication and account recovery. We require a valid college email domain to associate you with a specific college community. Your email is stored securely and never sold or shared.
We store your email domain (for example, iitb.ac.in) to isolate content by college. This allows you to view confessions only from your own college community.
A nickname you choose to appear in the app. This is not your real name and can be changed from settings.
During signup, you confirm you are 18+ by selecting your birthdate. This information is verified in real time and is not stored, logged, or retained in any form after verification is completed.
Text content you voluntarily submit, including confessions (up to 150 characters) and comments (up to 280 characters).
When users react to content, we store only aggregated reaction counts. We do not publicly display or expose which user reacted to which confession.
We store push notification tokens provided by Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) to deliver notifications. These tokens are not used to identify you personally.
Activity data such as replies or reactions to your confessions is stored to power the in-app activity feed.
We do not store IP addresses or use them to identify or track users. IP addresses may be temporarily processed by our servers and third-party infrastructure (such as Firebase) for security, fraud prevention, and network delivery, but they are not retained or linked to user profiles.
Stored for as long as your account exists and deleted when your account is deleted.
Stored indefinitely so users can view their history and engagement over time. You may delete individual confessions or delete your account at any time, which permanently removes this content within 30 days.
Activity records are retained to help users track engagement and may be automatically removed after a defined period or upon account deletion.
Stored until you uninstall the app or disable notifications.
When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where legally required.
